Stagetracker FX is the latest generation of the award-winning Stagetracker performer tracking and audio localisation system that has brought a new dimension to the world of theatre sound.

Ever since theatres began using amplification on live productions, the goal of many leading sound designers has been to recreate the natural sound of performers speaking or singing directly from the stage.
A disadvantage of using conventional sound systems is that the voices of actors do not appear to originate from the performers themselves, but from a detached place above or beside the stage. With many performers on stage at the same time, it is often difficult to tell which actor is actually speaking. These problems were finally overcome with the introduction of Stagetracker.
By utilising sophisticated hardware and software, Stagetracker tracks the positions of performers on stage and applies these positions to their microphone signals, automatically and in real time. The result is that the voices of the actors appear to follow them as they move around the stage. The audience experiences a more realistic and natural sound, making it easier for them to become immersed in the action and the story. The evolution of Stagetracker into Stagetracker FX now takes this realism a stage further. If an actor should leave the actual stage area, appearing on a balcony or at the rear of the auditorium, for maximum realism the voice of the actor should also appear to come from these positions.

Stagetracker FX 16 Hardware
Used in conjunction with a surround sound speaker configuration, Stagetracker FX makes it possible to position or move the voice of a performer anywhere in the theatre.
The same advanced tracking and localisation options which Stagetracker FX brings to performers' microphones are now also available for sound effects. Any sound effect may be placed under tracking control and it will automatically follow a performer or object moving around the stage. Sound effects can also be positioned or panned anywhere in the auditorium or moved to any on or off stage position, independent of any performer tracking which continues seamlessly in the background. Stagetracker FX finally delivers the system which theatre and musical sound designers have been waiting for.
